PS401 - Pastoral Counseling

This course is very comprehensive, prepares students for sessions, and gives them a good historical base (theoretical and spiritual). This course provides some advanced definitions/distinctions, which are extremely important. The section on Pastoral Counseling and Maturity gives students an understanding of basic spirituality. This in depth but practical, nuts and bolts primer of counseling covers the advance elements of counseling in an abbreviated outline format. Information is given that is essential for the more experienced counselors to know and to remember, including what counseling is as well as what it is not. This course focuses on relationship building, the counseling process, and self-exploration the foundation upon which further intervention is laid.

In a world where multiple "truths" abound, Christians need to be on their guard to avoid deception by other ways of looking at the world in opposition to Christ and His Word. To be prepared is to be well informed and how other worldviews differ from Christianity. This course analyzes the main world religions, cults, and philosophical systems relating to spirituality, morality, and the meaning of life.
